Hello:

I have taught Canadian history at the university level since the 1980s-the government's attempt to force an 'official history' on newcomers seems both naive and coercive. Generations of native-born Canadians have been unable to agree on their own history, or project a single vision of a national history. Is this not one of the main themes of an undergraduate course or textbook in Canadian history?

This is not only a departure from the currents of academic History, it is also a departure from our actual history.

A very good summary. If I may, I'd like to point out <a href="http://knowbc.blogspot.com/2009/11/new-guide-shortchanges-bc.html" rel="nofollow">Daniel Francis</a>' brief, but worthwhile, comments from our westernmost province.
