I believe that louis riel did do some baaaadddddd! things but he did not do anything worse than the other metis people. Metis is a strange word because it is pronounced different than it is spelled

I find that Riel did do some very bad things but he didn’t do any worse than the other metis He shouldn’t deserve to die If the goverment answered him then he wouldn’t have to fight I also think that he did do some things that he really shouldn’t have. But part of that may have came becuase he was so deep in religion.

It seems in both of these previous cases, Goldring was responding to attempts to repeal Riel’s treason conviction, either through a government act (the unsuccessful Bill C-417) or CBC’s television special that retried Riel.

I think Andrew Smith is correct in recognizing a change in the way old Reformers view Louis Riel. That said, it is interesting to note that Peter Goldring has a long history of opposing the Métis leader. In fact, the pamphlet is little more than a merger of two short pieces written by the MP in 1999 and 2002 as Veteran’s Affairs critic for the Canadian Alliance:
