1) The Association for Canadian Studies, THEN/HiER, and ActiveHistory.ca are hosting “Teaching History in Diverse Venues: A Workshop Linking Historians and Educators in Bettering History Education Practice.” This one-day workshop focuses on bringing graduate students, faculty, history teachers and public historians together to discuss new directions in teaching history. Christopher Dummitt will be speaking on “After Inclusiveness: The Future of Canadian History.” Click here for more information.
2) Thought Exchange (History Matters) is hosting two very interesting public lectures on October 14th at 7 p.m. Jennifer Bonnell will be speaking on “Isolating Undesirables: Prisons, Pollution & Homelessness in the Don Valley” at Bendale Branch of the Toronto Public Library. ActiveHistory.ca editor Jay Young will be discussing “A Public Technology: Building Toronto’s Yonge Street Subway” at the Beaches Branch.
3) The coordinators for the Active History/Histoire Engagée CHA Working Group are calling for papers for a proposed round table for the CHA Annual Meeting to be held in May of 2011 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. For more information visit the full announcement on ActiveHistory.ca
